Portsmouth Children's Trust Arrangements

Portsmouth's Children's Trust brings together agencies such as Health, Social Services, Education and Leisure to develop shared ways of working. It is not a separate organisation, but a partnership made up of those key players who are involved with the local community and really want to respond to the needs of children, young people and their families. Together with local people we will tackle the big issues that affect children's lives.

Viewpoint

 What’s your Viewpoint?

Are you a child or young person in care, or a care leaver?

The Government and councils like Portsmouth City Council want to make things as good as they can possibly be for young people who are in care.

There are some things that we have to do because the law tells us we must, but there are other things that we can change and this is what we want to ask you about.

We are about to start doing some things that the Government have suggested, but wanted to make sure we asked the experts what they though first to make sure we got it right, and guess what? You are the experts!

We would be really pleased if you could spend just 5 or 10 minutes answering a few questions to let us know what you think. We won’t know that it was you that wrote anything unless you want to tell us your name.

Joint Area Review

A Joint Area Review (JAR) is an external inspection, led by Ofsted, to evaluate the way all local services contribute to the outcomes achieved by children and young people. So Portsmouth City Council, the Police, the Health Service and Voluntary Organisations will all be included in the upcoming JAR.

The JAR will focus on the extent to which services contribute to children and young people being healthy, staying safe, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution and achieving economic well-being and pay particular attention to:

  • any areas of work deemed to be weak
  • safeguarding
  • looked after children
  • children and young people with learning difficulties or disabilities.
